The patronal feast of Dossello, in Albino, between devotion, peasant tradition, and food festival
The Patronal Feast of Saint Joseph is the feast of the hamlet of Dossello, in the Municipality of Albino (province of Bergamo), in the Valle del Lujo. It is the event that brings together the community of the hamlet every spring, intertwining the religious dimension with the popular and peasant one.
The heart of the feast is the solemnity of Saint Joseph on May 1st: the day is marked by the rosary, mass, the traditional blessing of vehicles, and the procession with the statue of the patron saint. These are the rites that give the feast its deepest meaning, rooted in local devotion.
Alongside the religious moments, the feast is also a gastronomic festival: the kitchen offers traditional Bergamo dishes, from casoncelli to polenta and zola, to grilled meats. The evenings are enlivened by music, with DJs and karaoke. It is a complete village festival, which tells the rural identity of the Valle del Lujo and welcomes those who visit the Seriana Valley in the days around May 1st.
The 2026 edition enlivens the hamlet of Dossello from April 30th to May 3rd. The religious highlight is May 1st, the solemnity of Saint Joseph, with the rosary, mass, blessing of vehicles, and a procession with the statue of the patron saint.
