The patron saint of San Biase and the blessed rolls distributed to the faithful
In San Biase, a tiny village in the interior of Molise, in the province of Campobasso, which takes its name from its patron saint, February 3rd is the most important day of the year: the feast of Saint Blaise. The community gathers around the church to honor the saint, traditionally invoked as the protector of the throat.
The ritual that characterizes the feast is that of the blessed rolls: the women of the village prepare these small breads which, after being blessed, are distributed to the faithful as a sign of devotion and good luck. It is an ancient gesture that intertwines faith and peasant culture, and which in San Biase has been passed down from generation to generation.
The eve of February 3rd is enlivened by traditional games and local wine, in a convivial atmosphere that brings together the inhabitants of one of the least populous municipalities in Molise. The feast of Saint Blaise is the occasion when the village, quiet in winter, regains life and community warmth.
In 2026, San Biase will again renew the feast of its patron saint Saint Blaise on February 3rd. The village women will prepare the blessed rolls to be distributed to the faithful, while the eve will be enlivened by traditional games and local wine, in a communal atmosphere that brings together the small village in the interior of Molise.
The detailed schedule will be released by the parish in the weeks prior.
