The patronal festival of the capital, featuring tripe, fish, dancing, and throat blessings
The Sagra del Patrono San Biasio is the patronal festival of San Biagio di Callalta, in the province of Treviso, dedicated to the saint who gives the town its name. The event enlivens the town center for over two weeks between January and February, blending devotion, gastronomy, and entertainment.
The food stand offers traditional Venetian dishes โ tripe, mixed boiled meats, fish (small octopus, fried fish, cod), and grilled meats โ alongside themed evenings such as the fish night, tagliata steak, and Valentine's Day dinner. The evenings are accompanied by orchestras and dancing.
The religious heart of the festival is on February 3rd, the solemnity of Saint Biagio, with masses, the blessing of bread, oranges, and throats, according to the ancient devotion to the saint who protects the throat. The procession with the brass band concludes the liturgical events, while February 15th is dedicated to the masked party for children.
