The Ferragosto festival in Pero di Breda di Piave, featuring donkey and ostrich meat
The Ferragosto Celebrations is the village festival of Pero, a hamlet in the municipality of Breda di Piave in the province of Treviso, in the countryside along the Piave River. The festival originated around the solemnity of the Assumption, celebrated on August 15th, and for generations has attracted visitors from all over the Treviso area.
What makes this festival unique is its unusual and distinctive cuisine: the stars are donkey (musso) and ostrich meats, featured in dishes such as donkey pappardelle, donkey stew with polenta, and ostrich steak, as well as the famous "Spaghetti del Drago". A gastronomic offering that tells the story of Venetian peasant tradition in a very special way.
Alongside the food stands, the celebrations offer a funfair, live music, and entertainment evenings for all ages. Organized by the Gruppi Uniti Pero, the festival is an authentic opportunity to experience the community spirit of the Treviso plain in the heart of summer.
The 2026 edition of the Ferragosto Celebrations confirms the festival in Pero di Breda di Piave around August 15th. The festival, organized by Gruppi Uniti Pero, features the food stand with characteristic donkey and ostrich specialties, a funfair, and musical evenings for all ages.
