The amateur walking event on April 25th through the hills of Castel Campagnano
Every April 25th, Castel Campagnano, a small town in the province of Caserta overlooking the Volturno Valley, gathers for the Passeggiata Campagnanese: a non-competitive amateur walking event that has become a historic tradition for the Middle Volturno area. It is not a speed race or a timed competition, but a collective walk that combines gentle exercise, landscape discovery, and community spirit, attracting hundreds of participants from across the province.
The event is organized by the Pro Loco Castel Campagnano with the patronage of the municipal administration and the collaboration of the provincial UNPLI and the local Sports Group. The format is a walk open to all, from the youngest to those over seventy: everyone walks together, without rankings or pressure, to rediscover the natural resources of the area, the river, and the hills surrounding the town.
The itinerary features two routes of different lengths: a shorter one, around 6 kilometers, designed for children and those who prefer a more leisurely pace, and a more challenging one of about 14 kilometers for experienced walkers. Both cross the hilly paths and countryside of the municipality, offering views of the agricultural landscape of the Middle Volturno.
The most anticipated moment is the stop in the hamlet of Squille, where the walk intersects with the Asparagus Festival: here, participants stop for lunch to enjoy local products in a festive atmosphere that turns the march into a true day of conviviality. It is the community heart of the event, the point where walking and gastronomic tradition merge.
After a six-year hiatus, the Passeggiata Campagnanese returned in 2025 with its 33rd edition, greeted by a real boom in registrations among adults and children. The success of that return confirmed the event's place in the spring calendar of Castel Campagnano and the inland Campania region, with the 34th edition scheduled for April 25, 2026.
On April 25, 2026, Castel Campagnano hosted the 34th edition of the Passeggiata Campagnanese, organized by the Pro Loco. The proven formula was confirmed: a morning gathering, two routes of different lengths through the hills and countryside of the municipality, and a stop in the hamlet of Squille in conjunction with the Asparagus Festival. A day of shared walking, open to families and children, which reaffirmed the event's role as a spring appointment in the Middle Volturno.
Alongside the main route, the Baby Walk is planned, dedicated to the little ones.
April 25th, with a morning gathering (9:00 AM) in Piazza Domenico Cotugno in Castel Campagnano (CE).
Participation is open to everyone, with two routes (approx. 6 km and 14 km) to choose from. For registration and regulations, please contact the Pro Loco Castel Campagnano. Castel Campagnano is located in the province of Caserta, in the Volturno Valley, reachable by car from the Caserta highway exits. The starting point is in the town center.
Wear comfortable walking shoes and clothing suitable for a hilly route; the stop in Squille coincides with the Asparagus Festival, where you can have lunch and taste local products.
