An evening of Spanish flavors in the Genoese Val Bisagno
In Struppa, a hamlet in the upper Val Bisagno in Genoa, summer brings a festival that goes beyond Ligurian tradition to cross the Pyrenees: the Paella and Sangria Festival. In Piazza Giuliano Suppini, the volunteers of the G.A.U. Association prepare paella, the famous Spanish rice dish, accompanied by sangria.
The event is one of many organized throughout the year by the G.A.U. Association (Giovani Amici Uniti), a local volunteer group very active in the social life of Struppa. The festival combines gastronomy with community building, featuring musical entertainment and the convivial atmosphere of village festivals.
The festivals organized by Giovani Amici Uniti are an example of how, in the hamlets of Genoa, volunteerism keeps the community alive. With paella, sangria, and music, the evening is an occasion for residents and visitors to gather in one of the city's greenest and most authentic areas.
The 2026 edition of the Paella and Sangria Festival takes place on Saturday, June 20, in Piazza Giuliano Suppini, in Struppa (Genoa). The volunteers of the G.A.U. Association prepare paella accompanied by sangria, with musical entertainment throughout the evening.
A neighborhood festival that combines gastronomy with community building, in one of the most authentic hamlets of the upper Val Bisagno.
Detailed times will be communicated by the G.A.U. Association in the days preceding the event.
Struppa can be reached by going up the Val Bisagno from Genoa; Piazza Giuliano Suppini is served by AMT buses to Struppa. By car from Molassana and Prato.
Free admission to the festival area. Food and drinks at the stands are for a fee.
