Three walking routes to discover the Orvieto area
The Orvieto Walking Marathon is a non-competitive walk that every spring brings walkers, trekkers, and families to explore the territory of Orvieto, in the Province of Terni, on foot. Not a race, but a great collective walk designed to experience the Umbrian landscape away from asphalt, among hills, countryside, and villages of the district.
The event offers three routes of different lengths — 10, 21, and 42 kilometers — suitable for all levels of fitness, from Sunday walkers to long-distance enthusiasts. There are refreshment points along the routes, while the start and finish are in the heart of the city, in Piazza del Popolo.
Organized by the Majorana Trekking APS Association, the Orvieto Walking Marathon involves the villages of the district in welcoming participants and combines walking with awareness-raising moments on health and wellness topics. With over a thousand registered participants in past editions, it has become a reference event for slow and sports tourism in Umbria.
The 3rd edition of the Orvieto Walking Marathon returns on April 11 and 12, 2026, organized by the Majorana Trekking APS Association. The non-competitive walk offers three routes of 10, 21, and 42 km, with new routes through the villages of the Orvieto district.
The main day is Sunday, April 12, when over 800 participants are expected. Start and finish in Piazza del Popolo.
Registration open on the official website. Detailed schedule of times to be announced by the organization.
