An organ concert from the Sonata Organi festival at the church in Colazza, Lake Maggiore
Every summer, the town of Colazza, a small village in the Vergante area overlooking Lake Maggiore in the province of Novara, hosts one of the most anticipated stops of the "Organ Itineraries in the Territory". This is the regional branch of the "Sonata Organi" International Organ Festival, a series that has been enlivening the musical life of Arona and the Novara area for nearly twenty years, organized by the Sonata Organi Cultural Association.
The concert takes place in the Parish Church of the Beata Vergine Immacolata, located on Via Vittorio Veneto, which houses a fine Biroldi organ, one of the most significant historical instruments showcased by the festival. The philosophy of the Itineraries is precisely this: to bring organists into local churches to revive ancient and precious instruments, which are tuned and maintained for each performance. It is a tangible way to protect an often overlooked organ heritage.
The "Organ Itineraries" are not limited to Colazza: throughout the summer, the festival visits numerous locations in the province of Novara and Lake Maggiore, from Ghevio to Baceno, from Solcio di Lesa to Massino Visconti, and from Invorio to San Maurizio d'Opaglio. Each concert is an opportunity to discover a different church and organ, in a musical journey that combines artistic quality with the rediscovery of Piedmont's historical heritage.
Like all events in the series, the Colazza concert is free to attend. It is a rare opportunity to hear internationally and nationally acclaimed performers in an intimate setting, where the church's acoustics and the voice of the historical organ create a unique atmosphere. An event designed for lovers of early and sacred music, as well as for those wishing to discover a picturesque corner of the Vergante.
On Sunday, August 9, 2026, at 5:00 PM, the Parish Church of the Beata Vergine Immacolata in Colazza hosts a concert of the "Organ Itineraries in the Territory" series, part of the 20th "Sonata Organi" International Organ Festival. Organist Roberto Bonetto will perform on the historical Biroldi organ. The concert is free to attend.
