About Opera Festival

Opera Festival is an electronic music and experimental research festival that transforms the village of Milo, on the eastern slopes of Mount Etna, into an international crossroads of sound, art, and landscape every summer. For four days, the woods, squares, and vineyards of this town in the province of Catania become open-air stages, featuring DJ sets, live performances, talks, and installations that engage with Europe's highest volcano. It is an immersive experience defined by music from dawn to dusk, Etna wine, and a deep connection to the Sicilian territory.

Opera Festival: the sound of Mount Etna in Milo

Opera Festival is one of the most original events in the Italian electronic and experimental music scene. The festival takes place in Milo, a small village on the eastern side of Mount Etna, in the province of Catania, Sicily. Here, in a place suspended between the sea and the mountains, the festival gathers international artists and audiences from all over Europe every summer for a full immersion in music, art, and nature.

A festival spread across woods, squares, and vineyards

The unique feature of Opera Festival is its distributed format: the various stages are scattered throughout the territory of Milo, each with its own identity and atmosphere. The Ballroom, nestled in the woods, is the daytime stage defined by shade and nature; the Claim Stage, in the central town square, is the perfect spot to enjoy the sunset with a glass of Etna wine and great vinyl music; the Punto Base, located among the vineyards and the Etna countryside, is the dancefloor that keeps going until dawn. At Contrada Caselle, the special project Etna Morning comes to lifeโ€”the most evocative moment of the festival, when night meets day and the sun rises behind the majesty of the volcano.

Electronic music and experimental research

Born as a multimedia electronic music festival, Opera Festival has progressively opened up to experimental research and more traditional sounds, building a refined and international program. Alongside DJ sets and live acts, there is space for talks, performances, and art installations, in a constant dialogue between the avant-garde, the landscape, and local culture.

A deep bond with the territory

Beyond the music, Opera Festival is a cultural project that highlights the town of Milo and the Etna area, promoting the traditions, wine, and food of the region. The choice of a peripheral village like Milo reflects the organizers' desire to support marginalized areas through cultural innovation and local economic growth. The festival is organized by the Associazione Culturale Musiculture.

An immersive experience

Those who attend Opera Festival live a total experience: you can stay at the campsite, enjoy dancing nights among the vineyards, and wait for the dawn with Mount Etna in the background. It is an event designed for those seeking not just a music festival, but a sensory journey into the heart of Sicily.
