About Open Air Trontano

The Open Air Trontano Festival is a major summer outdoor event that brings the woods and meadows of Trontano, in the Ossola Valley (Verbano-Cusio-Ossola province, Piedmont), to life. Established in 2009, this free, independent festival weaves together live music across multiple stages, art, workshops, and wellness in an atmosphere of creative freedom and deep respect for the environment. It is a full day, from morning until late at night, dedicated to community, creativity, and the identity of the Ossola region.

The Open Air Trontano Festival

The Open Air Trontano Festival is one of the most beloved summer events in the Ossola Valley: a full day of music, art, and nature held amidst the woods and meadows of Trontano, in the province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola, Piedmont. It is a widespread, open-air festival where the mountain landscape itself becomes part of the stage.

A history dating back to 2009

The festival began in 2009 as a space dedicated to young people within the traditional Alpini festival, eventually growing into a key cultural event for the entire region. Today, it is organized by the Clan dello Sciamano collective, in collaboration with NaturaBenessereCultura, and is built on four pillars: music, nature, art, and community.

Music, art, and wellness

The heart of the event is live music, spread across multiple stages hosting over twenty artists, bands, and musical projects, mostly emerging talents linked to the northern Piedmont scene. Alongside the concerts, the Open Air offers a rich, diverse program:

  • Art: photography and painting exhibitions, installations, and theatrical performances;
  • Workshops: from musical instrument making to earth painting and foraging activities;
  • Wellness: yoga, Tibetan singing bowl sessions, forest bathing, shiatsu, and dance;
  • Children: workshops and activities designed for the little ones;
  • Gastronomy: a zero-mile food area with traditional, vegetarian, and vegan options.

The connection to the Coachellula contest

The Open Air is linked to Coachellula, a music contest for emerging artists promoted by the D.O.M.O. association (Donatori Ossolani Midollo Osseo): the winner of the selection earns the right to take the stage at the festival and open the day. It is a bridge between solidarity and new music that makes the Open Air a springboard for local talent.

A festival tailored to the territory

Free, independent, and environmentally conscious, the Open Air Trontano Festival is much more than a concert: it is an opportunity to experience the Ossola region in a unique way, immersed in nature, surrounded by sounds, colors, and encounters. A celebration that captures the soul of Trontano and the community that calls it home.
