About Omphalos Half Marathon

Every spring, the Marotta seafront, a seaside district of Mondolfo (Province of Pesaro and Urbino), transforms into the stage for the Omphalos Half Marathon: a competitive FIDAL 21.097 km half marathon, alongside a competitive 10 km, a non-competitive 10 km, and a fun run open to all. Organized by the Omphalos autism & families Association, the race combines sport and solidarity: the entire proceeds support projects dedicated to people with autism and their families.

A race that looks to the sea and social causes

The Omphalos Half Marathon is one of the most cherished events in spring road running in the Marche region. It takes place in Marotta, the district facing the Adriatic Sea in the Municipality of Mondolfo, Province of Pesaro and Urbino, with the start and finish line at Piazza dell'Unificazione, in the heart of the seaside town. The course, completely renovated and designed along the seafront, offers athletes fast and flat kilometers just a stone's throw from the beach.

Four races in a single celebration of sport

The event offers multiple formats designed to welcome both competitive athletes and those who run for passion:

  • Competitive Half Marathon of 21.097 km, included in the national FIDAL calendar;
  • Competitive Omphalos Ten of 10.050 km;
  • Non-competitive Omphalos Ten of 10.050 km;
  • Fun run open to families and enthusiasts.

The half marathon course is designed as a loop of approximately 10.5 km to be repeated twice, entirely along the seafront: a configuration that makes it particularly fast and suitable for personal bests.

Sport and solidarity for autism

What makes this race special is not just the maritime setting. The event is organized by the Omphalos autism & families Association OdV, based in Fano, in collaboration with Caraffa Sport & Run and with the patronage of the Municipality of Mondolfo and the Marche Region. The entire proceeds from registrations are donated to life projects for people with autism: educational and sports assistance, legal support, and all forms of support for families. Running the Omphalos Half Marathon therefore also means making a concrete contribution to an important cause for the region.

A growing event

Born in 2018, the event has grown edition after edition, attracting hundreds of runners from all over the Marche region and neighboring regions. The renovation of the course along the sea has brought times closer to the race's historical records, making Marotta an interesting stop for those seeking a smooth half marathon in a prestigious tourist setting.

Omphalos Half Marathon — edition 2026

The eighth edition of the Omphalos Half Marathon was held on Sunday, May 17, 2026, in Marotta di Mondolfo, on a renovated and faster course entirely along the seafront. Over 300 participants registered for the half marathon, 10 km, and fun run. The half marathon was won by Rachid Berhamdane, who set the new course record.

A fast and well-attended race

The 2026 edition of the Omphalos Half Marathon saw over 300 participants, confirming the growth of the Marotta-Mondolfo event. The redesigned course along the sea allowed for notable performances, approaching and surpassing the race's historical benchmarks.
