The night Gallipoli turns blue with music, the sea, and sustainability
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Notte Blu Ecofestival is one of the most anticipated events on June 1st in Gallipoli, the "beautiful city" on the Ionian coast in the province of Lecce, in the heart of Salento. Established in 2022 by the local municipality, the event transforms the city center into one large, sprawling stage: Corso Roma is closed to traffic and, along with Piazza Tellini, Piazza Carducci, and Piazza Giovanni XXIII, fills with music, colors, and activities from late afternoon until late at night.
The Notte Blu format weaves together entertainment and environmental commitment: it is a true eco-festival. Alongside the concerts, there are conferences dedicated to the blue economy and the relationship between the city and its marine ecosystem, eco-workshops for children, circus and theater performances, an urban bike ride, and local farmers' markets organized by the Pro Loco of Gallipoli. Local associations host stands dedicated to sustainability, solidarity, and the circular economy, in line with the 2030 Agenda goals.
Every edition brings major names from the Salento and national music scenes to Gallipoli, always with free admission. Past performers include Sud Sound System with the Bag a Riddim Band, pioneers of raggamuffin and dancehall in Italy, and Aprรจs La Classe, a band formed in 1996 in Salento famous for their fusion of patchanka, reggae, rock, and world music. The evening often concludes with DJ sets and live disco music that keep Corso Roma dancing until late.
Notte Blu is also designed as a tool for de-seasonalizing tourism: it takes place at the beginning of June, a time when Gallipoli begins to bustle but still retains an authentic atmosphere. Strolling through the alleys of the historic center overlooking the sea, combining a free concert with an evening dedicated to environmental culture, and savoring typical local Salento products: this is the mix that makes Notte Blu Ecofestival a signature event of the Gallipoli summer and the entire province of Lecce.
At the moment, the dates for the 2026 edition of the Notte Blu Ecofestival have not yet been made official. The event has so far been held every year in early June in Gallipoli (Lecce), with Corso Roma closed to traffic and the city squares transformed into open-air stages. The detailed program, including guest artists and environmental initiatives, will be published by the Municipality in the weeks preceding the event.
Gallipoli is accessible by car via the Lecce-Gallipoli expressway (SS101). By train, the Gallipoli station is served by Ferrovie del Sud Est with connections from Lecce. The nearest airport is Brindisi-Casale. During the event, Corso Roma is closed to traffic from the morning until the end of the evening: it is recommended to park in areas outside the center and continue on foot.
All events at the Notte Blu Ecofestival are traditionally free of charge.
The event takes place across several squares in the center (Tellini, Carducci, Giovanni XXIII) and along Corso Roma: it is best to arrive in the late afternoon to attend conferences and workshops before staying for the evening concerts.
