The Christmas programme of Cesano Maderno between lights, nativity scenes and markets
In the municipality of Cesano Maderno (Province of Monza and Brianza, Lombardy), "Note di Natale" is the unified programme that the Municipality dedicates to the festive season, bringing together the city's many Christmas initiatives under a single banner. From the beginning of Advent until Epiphany, the city transforms into a grand stage of lights, music, and tradition.
Among the most beloved attractions is the Santa Claus's house set up at Palazzo Arese Borromeo, where children can meet Santa Claus and deliver their letters. The light projections on the facade of the 17th-century residence offer evocative evening shows, while the ice rink in Piazza Esedra invites young and old to skate in the heart of the city.
The programme includes artistic nativity scenes, Christmas markets in Piazza Esedra, the "Mercatino delle Meraviglie" (Market of Wonders), concerts, theatre performances, Christmas storytelling, and workshops for children, culminating in the Epiphany celebrations with La Befana. "Note di Natale" is therefore much more than just a festival: it is the way Cesano Maderno experiences and shares the Christmas spirit, in a calendar that blends faith, culture, solidarity, and fun for the entire community.
The strength of "Note di Natale" lies in its ability to involve the entire city for over a month, from the switching on of the Christmas lights until Epiphany. The various initiatives — promoted by the Municipality together with associations, parishes, and local businesses — create a dense calendar that accompanies the citizens through all phases of the holidays. Palazzo Arese Borromeo, with Santa's house and the light projections on its facade, becomes the scenic focal point of this magic, while the squares come alive with markets and shows. It is a way to bring warmth to winter days and to strengthen, through shared celebration, the sense of belonging to the community.
The 2026 edition of "Note di Natale" enlivens Cesano Maderno from the beginning of Advent to Epiphany, reprising the city's rich programme of Christmas initiatives. Among the usual events: Santa Claus's house at Palazzo Arese Borromeo, light projections on the facade of the residence, the ice rink in Piazza Esedra, artistic nativity scenes, Christmas markets, the "Mercatino delle Meraviglie", concerts, and shows for children. The detailed programme will be published by the Municipality in the weeks preceding the event.
