International short film festival at Palazzo Vigo, Riposto
The No Bounds Short Film Festival is an international event dedicated to short films that enlivens the town of Riposto every summer. This vibrant seaside town in the Province of Catania overlooks the Ionian Sea in Sicily. Screenings are held at Palazzo Vigo, a historic building in the hamlet of Torre Archirafi that opens like a window onto the sea, offering spectators intimate and atmospheric open-air cinema evenings.
Artistically directed by Marco Puglisi, the festival was founded with a clear philosophy: to promote Beauty through the language of cinema, without any geographical, genre, or stylistic limits. It is from this commitment to openness that the name "No Bounds" is derived: the short film is viewed as a medium for ultimate expressive freedom, capable of telling stories from every corner of the globe in just a few intense minutes.
The event spans several consecutive evenings of screenings, during which a selection of short films from various countries is presented to the public. The works compete for awards granted by both a professional jury and the audience in attendance, with prizes distributed across multiple rankings. Film submissions are collected via the international platform FilmFreeway, ensuring broad and diverse participation.
The No Bounds Short Film Festival is part of Riposto's rich summer calendar, featuring music, theater, art, local flavors, and social engagement. The choice of Palazzo Vigo in Torre Archirafi, with its terrace overlooking the Ionian Sea, helps make this festival much more than just a screening: it is a cultural experience that blends the charm of the Sicilian landscape with the discovery of contemporary auteur cinema.
The 2026 edition will be held from July 31 to August 2 in the usual setting of Palazzo Vigo in Torre Archirafi, Riposto. The artistic direction of Marco Puglisi and the international short film competition format, with jury and audience awards, have been confirmed.
Film submissions are collected via FilmFreeway. The official selection of short films in competition and the full program of evening screenings have not yet been published and will be communicated by the organization closer to the event. Admission to the evenings will be, as per tradition, free.
Riposto is located on the Ionian coast of the Province of Catania. By car, it can be reached via the A18 Messina-Catania motorway (Giarre-Riposto exit). By train, the Giarre-Riposto station is served by the Ionian railway line. The nearest airport is Catania-Fontanarossa, approximately 40 km away.
Screenings take place at Palazzo Vigo, in the hamlet of Torre Archirafi (Via Marina di Torre). Admission to the evenings is free. It is recommended to arrive early to secure a seat.
As this is an evening outdoor event by the sea, it is advisable to bring a light jacket for the evening. There is no shortage of restaurants, ice cream parlors, and local spots along the Ionian coast.
