Nature, creativity, and culture on the shores of the Monticchio Lakes
Few natural stages can evoke emotion like the Monticchio Lakes, two bodies of water nestled in the extinct craters of Mount Vulture, in the municipality of Rionero in Vulture. It is here, on the Spiaggia delle Ninfee (Water Lily Beach) of the Great Lake, that the Ninfea Festival of Regeneration comes to life each summer: a widespread event that brings together nature, creativity, and culture.
The Ninfea program is intentionally multidisciplinary: concerts and DJ sets alternate with talks on sustainable development, book presentations, shows, interactive science workshops, and activities designed for children. In recent editions, the festival has hosted artists and communicators known to the general public, from dawn concerts on the lake shores to discussions dedicated to the relationship between humans, the environment, and inland areas. The common thread is always the same: the regeneration, urban and human, of the inland territories of Basilicata.
Ninfea is a free-admission festival, accessible and pet-friendly, with rest areas, refreshments, and services designed for families and visitors of all ages. Organized by Labirinto Visivo Impresa Sociale with the patronage of the Region of Basilicata and the Municipality of Rionero in Vulture, it has become one of the most beloved cultural events in the Vulture area.
Participating in Ninfea also means discovering one of the most beautiful places in the Province of Potenza: the two lakes, the Abbey of San Michele perched on the crater wall, the Vulture woods, and the flavors of Aglianico wine. An experience that combines celebration, reflection, and scenic wonder.
The Ninfea Festival of Regeneration 2026 confirms its dual soul: an evening at Piazza Lanari, Monticchio Bagni, and the main days on the Spiaggia delle Ninfee of the Great Lake of Monticchio, in the municipality of Rionero in Vulture. As always, the festival offers concerts, DJ sets, talks on sustainable development, scientific dissemination, activities for children, and nature walks, with the theme of regenerating inland areas at the center of reflection.
The complete program, with the artistic lineup and guests, will be presented by the organization in the weeks preceding the event.
The festival is divided into two locations: an evening at Piazza Lanari, Monticchio Bagni, and the main days on the Spiaggia delle Ninfee of the Great Lake of Monticchio.
As per the established format, the following are planned: concerts and DJ sets, talks on sustainable development and inland areas, scientific dissemination, book presentations, workshops for children, and nature walks.
The detailed program with artists, schedules, and guests will be announced in the coming weeks on the website ninfeafestival.it and on the festival's social media channels.
How to get there: The Monticchio Lakes can be reached by car from Rionero in Vulture (about 15 minutes); from the A16 highway, take the Candela exit, then the SS93 and the road to Monticchio. Parking is available near the lakes.
Tickets: Admission to the festival is free.
Tip: Combine your visit with the Abbey of San Michele Arcangelo and a walk along the lake trails; wear comfortable shoes for the natural areas.
