On foot in the night in the footsteps of Saint Anthony
The Night Procession of Pilgrims is one of the most evocative rites of Antonian devotion. Promoted by the Franciscan friars of the Antonian Sanctuaries in Camposampiero (Padua), it retraces the last journey of Saint Anthony, who went from Camposampiero to Padua, where he died in 1231 in the Arcella.
The pilgrimage begins in the dead of night from the Antonian Sanctuaries and winds through the Paduan countryside, with an intermediate stop for prayer and refreshment. The journey reaches the Sanctuary of the Arcella at first light of dawn and continues to the Basilica of Saint Anthony, where pilgrims arrive in the morning.
The initiative is part of the rich calendar of the Antonian June, the month of celebrations dedicated to the Saint in Padua and in the Antonian places of the territory. The night procession combines the spiritual dimension of the pilgrimage with a slow-paced discovery of the deep bond between Camposampiero, the Arcella, and Padua.
In 2026, the Night Procession of Pilgrims will once again connect Camposampiero and Padua as part of the Antonian June. As tradition dictates, the pilgrimage takes place on a night between late May and early June, starting from the Antonian Sanctuaries and arriving at dawn at the Sanctuary of the Arcella and the Basilica of Saint Anthony.
The program follows the usual structure of the pilgrimage:
