An evening for families filled with stories, reading, and imagination in Druogno
The Night of Tales is one of the most poetic cultural initiatives of the year. For several editions, it has involved Druogno, a small town in the Vigezzo Valley, in the Verbano-Cusio-Ossola province of Piedmont. The evening is part of a major national project created by Reggionarra in Reggio Emilia: every year, on the same day and at the same time, homes, schools, and libraries across Italy fill with tales, in a collective ritual of reading and storytelling that unites different generations.
The idea is simple yet powerful: turn off screens and phones and let yourself be carried away by stories. In the dim light, perhaps gathered around a candle, families come together to experience adventures and emotions through reading, narrating, and listening. It is a moment of deep connection, designed for children but capable of engaging adults, who rediscover the ancient pleasure of listening to and telling stories.
In Druogno, the evening takes place in the new municipal library, located on the first floor of the tourist office in Piazza della Chiesa. Children, accompanied by their families, gather for an evening entirely dedicated to stories. Admission is free, and booking is recommended to ensure everyone can be accommodated in the cozy and welcoming space.
Each edition of the Night of Tales revolves around a theme shared by all participating libraries, accompanied by a guiding color. It is a common thread that links Druogno to thousands of other places that, on the same night, ignite the magic of storytelling together. For the Vigezzo Valley, a land of tradition and alpine landscapes, it is also a precious opportunity to come together as a community and introduce younger generations to reading.
For the 2026 edition, Druogno joined the Night of Tales on Friday, February 20, at 9:00 PM, in the new municipal library on the first floor of the tourist office on Piazza della Chiesa. The theme shared by all participating libraries was "Winds of Tales", chosen to celebrate the twenty years of the Reggionarra project: the wind became the common thread for readings and narrations.
The guiding color for the edition was blue and light blue: participants were invited to wear something blue and to bring their favorite mug to share milk and cookies together. A simple and warm evening, dedicated to children and adults gathered around stories.
Event note: wear something blue or light blue, the guiding color of the evening. Free admission, booking recommended via message to +39 340 868 2308.
