Cesena's New Year's Eve in Piazza del Popolo

Every December 31st, the historic center of Cesena, in the Province of Forlì-Cesena in Emilia-Romagna, lights up to welcome the new year. The heart of the celebration is Piazza del Popolo, the monumental square overlooking the Malatestiana Fortress and the Town Hall, which for one night transforms into a grand open-air stage. The initiative is organized by the Municipality of Cesena together with Cesena Fiera, with the support of local entities like Caiec and Bcc Romagnolo.

A Free Celebration for Everyone

Cesena's New Year's Eve has a simple and winning formula: free entry, a stage in the square, and music until late at night. The evening kicks off with a DJ set by Radio Studio Delta, a very popular radio station in Romagna, which warms up the atmosphere before the live concert. At midnight, the entire square gathers for the New Year's Eve toast, and then the dancing continues until 2 AM.

Thousands of People Downtown

In recent years, the event has grown to become one of the most attended moments of the city's winter calendar: the previous edition drew about 6,500 people to the square. To ensure safety, the Municipal Administration provides stewards, the presence of Local Police, an accessible dedicated area, and, as per ordinance, a ban on the sale and consumption of drinks in glass and aluminum containers in the festival area.

New Year's Eve is part of Cesena's broader Christmas program, which enlivens the historic center from Advent until Epiphany with lights, markets, and family-friendly events.
