Nei Tuoi Panni is the Roman swap party dedicated to the free exchange of clothes and accessories, a simple and fun way to refresh your wardrobe without buying anything new. The idea is as practical as it is revolutionary: instead of throwing away or hoarding clothes you no longer use, you bring them to the event and trade them for items brought by other participants. It is a gesture that reduces waste, extends the life of garments, and challenges the disposable model of fast fashion.

A non-profit project for reuse

Nei Tuoi Panni is not just a market, but a true awareness-raising project promoted by three active Roman organizations: Inspire, an association committed to zero-waste culture and sustainable lifestyles, Tao Associazione Culturale, and the Movimento per la Decrescita Felice (MDF) Roma. Themes such as the green economy, slow fashion, reuse, upcycling, conscious shopping, and happy degrowth revolve around the clothing exchange—values that the organizers share through games, discussions, and plenty of conviviality.

How the swap works

The mechanism is accessible to everyone. Each participant brings their own items in excellent condition—clean, free of holes or stains—and in return, they can take home up to three times the number of items they brought. Each swap involves a minimum donation of 1 euro per item, which supports the activities of the promoting associations. All types of seasonal clothing are accepted, as well as accessories like shoes, hats, scarves, gloves, bags, and backpacks; there is even space for children's clothing. It is the perfect occasion for families, ethical fashion enthusiasts, and anyone looking to give a second life to their clothes.

The Città dell'Altra Economia in Testaccio

Many Nei Tuoi Panni events take place at the Città dell'Altra Economia, located in the spaces of Largo Dino Frisullo, in the heart of the Testaccio district in Rome. Situated in the former slaughterhouse, the Città dell'Altra Economia is a symbolic venue for the capital's solidarity-based and sustainable economy, easily reachable from the Piramide stop on Metro line B. Born and raised in Rome, within the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital and the Lazio region, Nei Tuoi Panni is now a recurring appointment that accompanies the city community throughout the year with multiple dates between winter and spring.
