Walking in the ancient Marchesato
The Nature Walk in the Marchesato is the hiking event that every June 2nd draws walkers and nature enthusiasts to Monte Santa Maria Tiberina, a village in the province of Perugia on the border with Tuscany. Now in its 28th edition in 2026, the initiative is organized by the Pro Loco of Monte Santa Maria Tiberina in collaboration with the CAI of Città di Castello.
Between history and landscape
The route winds through the paths of what was the ancient Marchesato of Monte Santa Maria, a small feudal enclave that remained independent for centuries. Walking through woods, hills, and clearings, participants discover panoramic views of the Upper Tiber Valley and traces of the history of a territory with a particular charm, suspended between Umbria and Tuscany.
An event for everyone
The walk, accessible and of a naturalistic nature, is designed for families and hikers of all levels. The meeting point is in Corso locality at 8:00 AM, with departure at 8:15 AM. A simple and genuine way to experience Republic Day outdoors, in company and in contact with nature.
Walk in the Marchesato — edition 2026
The 2026 edition, the twenty-eighth, takes place on Tuesday, June 2, on Republic Day. The hike crosses the paths of the ancient Marchesato of Monte Santa Maria, through woods and hills of the Upper Tiber Valley, on a nature trail suitable for families and hikers.
