About Night of Classical High Schools
A night dedicated to classical culture
The National Night of Classical High Schools is an initiative that, in a single evening, simultaneously lights up about 350 classical high schools throughout Italy. In Pioltello (Metropolitan City of Milan), the event is organized by the Classical High School of IIS Machiavelli, which opens the doors of humanistic culture to the citizens.
Students as protagonists
The evening is entirely animated by the students: musical performances, vocal recitals, poetry readings, and theatrical moments that create a dialogue between the great texts of Greek and Latin tradition and contemporary sensibility. It is a way to demonstrate that the classical world is not museum material, but a still-living source of meaning.
The 2026 theme: humanitas
Each year, the national event proposes a unifying theme. For 2026, the common thread is "humanitas", a key concept of Latin culture that refers to the dignity, care, and value of the human being. The evening is held in the Municipal Council Hall and is open to the public with free admission, a sign of the bond between the school and the community of Pioltello.

The 2026 edition, the twelfth nationally, takes place on March 27 in the Municipal Council Hall of Pioltello, starting at 8:00 PM. The Classical High School of IIS Machiavelli offers an evening of musical performances, vocal recitals, poetry readings, and theatrical moments inspired by the national theme "humanitas". The event is open to the public and free of charge, and takes place simultaneously with about 350 classical high schools across Italy.
