The most delicious festival of the Martesana, dedicated to the famous blue cheese
The National Festival of Gorgonzola DOP is the celebration that honors Italy's most famous blue cheese in the place that gave it its name: Gorgonzola, a town in the Martesana region, in the province of Milan. According to tradition, this raw milk cheese with its characteristic blue-green veins, now protected by the DOP designation, was born right here. The festival makes it the absolute star of a weekend of taste, culture, and conviviality.
During the event, the heart of the historic center, and particularly Piazza Italia, transforms into a journey of flavors. The food stalls offer Gorgonzola DOP in its many versions, from sweet to spicy, paired with traditional Lombard dishes and numerous culinary interpretations. Tastings, producers' stalls, and exhibitors complete an offering designed for both enthusiasts and families.
Considered the most delicious festival in the Martesana, the event enlivens the center of Gorgonzola with music, entertainment, and cultural initiatives, attracting tens of thousands of visitors each year from the Milan metropolitan area and beyond. The event is organized by Pro Loco Gorgonzola, which manages its program and setup, making it a key event for those who want to experience an Italian dairy excellence up close.
Tasting Gorgonzola DOP in its city of origin is a different experience: the festival allows you to meet producers, understand the differences between the types, and appreciate a product that tells centuries of cheesemaking wisdom from the Po Valley. For the Municipality of Gorgonzola and the entire province of Milan, it is also an opportunity to promote the territory and its food and wine traditions.
