The FORM symphony season at the Teatro Gentile in Fabriano
MusicAttraverso is the symphony season of the Filarmonica Marchigiana Orchestra (FORM) held at the Teatro Comunale Gentile da Fabriano, in the Municipality of Fabriano, province of Ancona, in the Marche region. Promoted by FORM in collaboration with the Municipality of Fabriano, the review is part of a broader regional symphony program that touches several cities in the Marche, from Jesi to Fermo, from Ancona to Macerata, from Recanati to Fabriano.
The season is curated by artistic director Francesco Di Rosa, principal oboist of the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, who has built a program capable of creating a dialogue between different eras, styles, and generations. The title itself, MusicAttraverso, encapsulates the idea of a musical journey that spans time: from the Baroque repertoire of Bach to the masterpieces of Viennese Classicism by Mozart, Haydn, and Beethoven, from the great symphonic Romanticism to the pages of contemporary music.
Each edition brings internationally renowned conductors and soloists to Fabriano. Among the performers in recent seasons are cellist Enrico Dindo, horn player Alessio Allegrini, oboist Albrecht Mayer (principal oboist of the Berliner Philharmoniker), conductor and cellist Luigi Piovano, and pianist Marco Scolastra. The program alternates major symphonic events, tributes to the operatic repertoire, and thematic projects, such as the Donna Musica concert dedicated to the female universe in music.
The review traditionally opens with the New Year's Concert, a much-loved event that brings the brilliant atmosphere of Viennese waltzes and some of the most famous arias from the Italian operatic repertoire, from Verdi to Puccini, from Rossini onwards, to the stage of the Teatro Gentile.
Alongside the subscription events, MusicAttraverso dedicates space to younger audiences with concerts designed for families and children, such as performances of Peter and the Wolf and The Sorcerer's Apprentice, a way to introduce children to great orchestral music.
The heart of the review is the Teatro Comunale Gentile da Fabriano, a historic Italian-style theater that represents one of the city's main cultural centers. The symphony season is part of the rich cultural offering of Fabriano, a UNESCO Creative City for Crafts and Folk Art, world-renowned for its ancient paper-making tradition.
The 2026 symphony season of the FORM at the Teatro Gentile in Fabriano opened on Saturday, January 4, with the traditional New Year's Concert, conducted by David Crescenzi, featuring Viennese waltzes and arias from the operatic repertoire. The program continued with seven performances until May 3.
Among the performers: Alessio Allegrini on horn (January 16, with music by Strappa, Strauss, and Mendelssohn), oboist Albrecht Mayer (February 7, Bach and Beethoven), the Donna Musica concert entirely dedicated to women with Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto (March 6), the family concert with Peter and the Wolf and The Sorcerer's Apprentice (March 21), cellist Enrico Dindo (April 17), and closing with Luigi Piovano conducting with pianist Marco Scolastra (May 3), featuring music by Philip Glass and Beethoven.
The Teatro Gentile da Fabriano is located at Via Gentile da Fabriano 1, in the historic center of Fabriano. By train, Fabriano station is well connected to the Rome-Ancona line. By car, Fabriano is accessible from the SS76 (Vallesina) which connects the A14 (Ancona Nord exit) to the Marche hinterland and Umbria.
Season tickets and individual tickets are available at the Teatro Gentile box office (tel. 0732 3644) and online at vivaticket. Reduced rates are available for students and young people. Prices for individual concerts generally range between 5 and 20 euros.
