Water Music and Music for the Royal Fireworks is the concert-spectacle that transforms the Ponte Vecchio (Alpini Bridge) in Bassano del Grappa into a unique stage every summer. The Orchestra of Padua and Veneto is positioned on the famous covered bridge, a work by Andrea Palladio, and the music is amplified on both banks of the Brenta river.
Water, Music, and Fireworks
The program is dedicated to Georg Friedrich Händel, featuring pieces from his Water Music and Music for the Royal Fireworks. To crown the evening, a pyrotechnic display launched from platforms on the Brenta creates a captivating fusion of music, lights, and fireworks.
A Signature Event of Operaestate
Part of Operaestate Festival Veneto, in the province of Vicenza, this event is one of the most anticipated and photographed appointments of the Bassano summer, drawing a large audience along the riverbanks.
Händel sul Ponte Vecchio — edition 2026
The 2026 edition, part of the 46th season of Operaestate Festival Veneto, features the Händel program of Water Music and Music for the Royal Fireworks. The Orchestra of Padua and Veneto, conducted by Filippo Maria Bressan, performs on the Ponte Vecchio with sound diffused on both banks of the Brenta.
The spectacle culminates with fireworks launched from platforms on the river (by Parente Fireworks), for an evening that combines great Baroque music and natural scenery.
