The showcase for independent Apulian music in Castrignano de' Greci
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Music in the Castle is a fresh music festival born in Castrignano de' Greci, a small town in the Grecìa Salentina area, in the province of Lecce, in the heart of Puglia. The event brings an evening entirely dedicated to independent Apulian music to the Salento village, with a program that alternates between live shows and DJ sets until late at night.
The event takes place within the Palazzo Baronale De Gualtieris, a historic residence overlooking the center of Castrignano de' Greci, now enlivened by the Korte contemporary bistro at the Kora Center. For one night, the castle courtyard transforms into an open-air stage and dance floor, where historical architecture and contemporary sounds meet in a striking contrast.
The festival's character is decidedly eclectic: the stage hosts a rotation of bands and artists ranging from rock and Italian pop to punk rock, followed by DJ sets that keep the crowd dancing into the early hours. The stated goal is to provide a space for emerging artists from the region, showcasing the vibrant independent scene of Salento and Puglia.
Throughout the evening, a bar and food corner are available, making the event a social gathering as much as a musical one. Admission is set at a nominal price, designed to keep the event accessible, especially to a younger audience.
Castrignano de' Greci is part of the Grecìa Salentina, an area of Salento that preserves the ancient Griko language, a legacy of the millennial Greek presence in the Terra d'Otranto. Events like Music in the Castle help keep this territory alive, combining the preservation of the historical heritage of baronial palaces with a contemporary cultural offering aimed at new generations.
The 2026 edition of Music in the Castle in Castrignano de' Greci has not yet been officially scheduled. Based on previous editions, the appointment with independent Apulian music at the Palazzo Baronale De Gualtieris is expected in September. As soon as the organization announces dates, the line-up, and program details, this page will be updated.
