About Music Festival Arcevia

Every June 21st, on the summer solstice, Arcevia participates in the Music Festival, the major international event that brings music to squares, museums, and cultural sites. In this village in the Ancona hinterland, the event takes place in a unique setting: the State Archaeological Museum, housed in the former Convent of San Francesco. For the 2026 edition, the concert "In a landscape: between minimalism and soundtracks" features piano performances of the most evocative works by Cage, Glass, Richter, Nyman, and Einaudi, with free admission.

The Music Festival in the heart of Arcevia

The Music Festival is the event that every June 21st, on the occasion of the summer solstice, enlivens hundreds of cities in Italy and Europe with widespread and often free concerts. In Arcevia, a village in the Province of Ancona and one of the most picturesque in the Marche hinterland, the event finds an exceptional venue: the State Archaeological Museum, set up in the spaces of the ancient former Convent of San Francesco along Corso Mazzini.

A concert between minimalism and soundtracks

The common thread of the 2026 edition is the concert titled "In a landscape: between minimalism and soundtracks", entrusted to the pianist Alessia Mortaloni. The program explores some of the most beloved voices in contemporary minimalist and film music: from the ethereal atmospheres of John Cage to the repetitive structures of Philip Glass, from the intimate pages of Max Richter to the soundtracks of Michael Nyman, up to the lyricism of Ludovico Einaudi.

The choice of repertoire naturally dialogues with the location: minimalist music, made of repetitions and slow transformations, accompanies the observation of the museum's collections and invites a slow and meditative experience, in balance between ancient art and contemporary sound.

The State Archaeological Museum of Arcevia

The State Archaeological Museum of Arcevia preserves important evidence of the prehistory and history of the Vallesina and Misa valley territories, from Neolithic finds to the Roman age. On the occasion of the Music Festival, the museum observes an extraordinary daytime opening, so that the public can combine a visit to the exhibition halls with listening to the concert.

An event for everyone

  • Piano concert in the evocative setting of an archaeological museum
  • Minimalist and film music repertoire accessible even to non-experts
  • Free admission, in line with the popular spirit of the Music Festival
  • Opportunity to visit the museum collections during the extraordinary opening hours

The Music Festival in Arcevia is a precious opportunity to discover a village in the Marche region far from the major tourist circuits, experiencing the longest night of the year with the soundtrack of the piano.
