The Banda Romagnoli and the voices of the village in Piazza XX Settembre, in the heart of Lazio
The Music Festival is a widespread event that, every summer around the solstice of June 21st, lights up squares and historic centers across Italy and Europe. Contigliano, a village in the province of Rieti in the heart of Lazio overlooking the scenic Valle Santa reatina, also joins this great musical network, bringing the festivities to the streets of its historic center.
The heart of the event is Piazza XX Settembre, the most welcoming and characteristic square in Contigliano Alta, which transforms into an open-air stage for the occasion. The event, promoted by the Municipality of Contigliano, confirms the town's commitment to intertwining music, tradition, and community life.
The star of the festival is the Banda Musicale Romagnoli Aps, a historic local ensemble that returns to the square with a program specifically designed for the village audience. Under the direction of maestro Mauro Valeriani, the band performs a selection of marches by European composers, featuring light and upbeat pieces designed to engage spectators of all ages. It is the band repertoire in its most festive and popular form, which has always accompanied community gatherings in Italy.
The 2026 edition is titled "The Voice of the Places" and goes beyond just the concert. Following the band's performance, journalist Sabrina Vecchi leads a conversation with individuals who, in various ways, are committed to promoting the village or have chosen the historic center as their place to live and work. It is a way to give a voice to the places themselves and those who inhabit them, reflecting together on the culture, memory, and future of the village.
The Music Festival is part of the "Contigliano in festa 2026" series, promoted by the Municipality and funded by the Lazio Region, a project designed to activate culture, nature, and community in the heart of Lazio. Along with other summer events in Contigliano, the festival helps keep the historic center alive and tells the story of a territory that blends landscape, history, and hospitality.
On Saturday, June 20, 2026, starting at 6:30 PM, Piazza XX Settembre hosted the Contigliano Music Festival. The concert was followed by the conversation "The Voice of the Places," moderated by journalist Sabrina Vecchi, featuring guests committed to the promotion of the town, including Enrico Stazi (president of the Contigliano Centro Storico 5.0 association), historian Roberto Lorenzetti, and chef Carlotta Delicato.
