The Carnival of Lower Veronese

The Mozzecane Carnival is the cheerful carnival celebration of Mozzecane, a town in the Veronese plain bordering the province of Mantua. Organized by the Associazione Magnacoriandoli with the patronage of the Municipality, it is a highly anticipated event that involves the entire community in a day of colors, music, and fun.

The parade of allegorical floats

The heart of the festival is the parade of allegorical floats, which in the afternoon crosses the town's streets — from Via Dante Alighieri along Via XXV Aprile and Via degli Alpini — to Villa Vercelli. The procession is accompanied by the Mozzecane Band, flag-wavers, and traditional masks, including the Papà del Gnoco, the symbolic figure of the Veronese carnival, and Count Codega with Countess Verza, masks from the nearby hamlet of San Zeno.

A celebration for all ages

The morning is mainly dedicated to the little ones, with face painting, baby dance, a mask parade, and a costume contest at Villa Vercelli. A participatory and popular festival that blends tradition, volunteerism, and community spirit, in line with the great carnival celebrations of the Veronese area, such as the famous Bacanal del Gnoco.
