Morlupo Sausage Festival

A tradition since 1967

The Morlupo Sausage Festival is one of the longest-running and most beloved food and wine events in northern Lazio. Since 1967, the town of Morlupo, overlooking the Tiber Valley, has dedicated the last weekend of October to its signature product: locally produced sausage, crafted according to a recipe passed down through generations. Organized by the Pro Loco Morlupo APS, the event has been recognized as a Sagra di Qualità by UNPLI, a mark that rewards the most authentic Italian festivals for their respect for tradition, quality of ingredients, and hospitality.

The great grill of Piazza Armando Diaz

The beating heart of the festival is the monumental grill located in the center of Piazza Armando Diaz, kept running non-stop throughout the event. Hundreds of sausages are cooked on it, served hot inside the classic Roman rosetta roll and accompanied by local Colli wine and craft beer. In 2025, the historic grill, a true symbol of the town's identity, was entirely renovated by local Morlupo blacksmiths thanks to public donations: bigger, better, and safer, it is now the natural backdrop for every photo of the event.

More than just a sausage sandwich

The food stalls offer a menu that goes well beyond the grill. Alongside the steaming sandwiches, you will find local country-style dishes, such as pasta with sausage ragù prepared according to the authentic village recipe, tonnarelli with rooster and sausage, and stewed beans. Several restaurants and taverns in the historic center participate with special themed menus, extending the celebration beyond the square. A gluten-free stand is also available to accommodate celiac visitors.

Music, crafts, and families

The village of Morlupo

The festival is also an opportunity to discover Morlupo, a medieval town about thirty kilometers from Rome along the Via Flaminia, within the Veio Park area. The historic center, clustered around Palazzo Borghese, is easily explored on foot through alleys, stairways, and glimpses of the Roman countryside. During the two days of the festival, the streets fill with visitors from the capital and neighboring towns, creating a village atmosphere that is perhaps the true hallmark of the event.
