A month of lights under the Rocca
Monselice Illumina il Natale is the event calendar that brightens the Christmas season in the town of the Euganean Hills, in the province of Padua. For about a month, from early December until Epiphany, the historic centre at the foot of the Rocca fills with lights, stalls, scents, and activities for all ages.
The Christmas Village
The heart of the event is Piazza Mazzini, where the Christmas village with themed wooden chalets, Santa's house, and stalls selling mulled wine, hot chocolate, and caramel apples is set up. In Piazza Vittoria, a Nordic-style market is added. The program alternates magic and bubble shows, Christmas concerts, the nativity scene exhibition at the Civic Tower, and workshops for children, as well as solidarity initiatives like toy drives.
The Arrival of the Befane
The grand finale is on January 6th, with the arrival of the Befane in Piazza Mazzini, the distribution of stockings, and the widespread initiative 'Arte in dono' (Art as a gift) through the town's streets. A celebration designed for families and visitors, organized by the Municipality of Monselice with the Pro Loco and local associations.
