Christmas in Este
Every winter, the historic center of Este, in the province of Padua, dresses up for the holidays with Este – Città del Natale, the grand Christmas program organized by the association Este in Centro together with the Municipality. The heart of the event is Piazza Maggiore, where the ice skating rink, the carousel, and the market stalls come to life.
Markets, Nativity Scenes, and Atmosphere
The Christmas markets spread across Piazza Maggiore, Piazza Trento, and the Parish Works of Prà, alongside Santa's House and a rich itinerary of nativity scenes ("Este nei Presepi", the Porta Vecchia nativity scene, and the mechanical nativity scene of Motta d'Este). Street performers and street bands liven up the streets of the center throughout the period.
Concerts and New Year's Eve
The program includes dozens of Christmas concerts with local choirs and bands, culminating in a New Year's Eve dance party at PalEste on December 31st. With over sixty events, Este – Città del Natale is one of the richest holiday events in the lower Padua region.
Este Città del Natale — edition 2026
The 2026-2027 edition of Este – Città del Natale will follow the established formula: an ice skating rink and carousel in Piazza Maggiore, Christmas markets, Santa's House, a nativity scene trail, and over sixty events including concerts, street performers, and family activities. The detailed program will be published by the Municipality of Este in the weeks leading up to the holidays.

How to get there
Este is accessible via the A13 motorway (Monselice exit) and by train. The activities are concentrated in Piazza Maggiore and the pedestrianized historic center.
Ice Skating Rink
The ice skating rink in Piazza Maggiore has an indicative entrance fee of 5 euros (skate rental and assistance included), for a maximum session of one hour. Markets and events in the square are free to enter.
