British Mod culture lands on the Adriatic Riviera, between Cattolica and Gabicce Mare
In the squares, piers, and beaches of Cattolica (Province of Rimini) and nearby Gabicce Mare, Modcast Goes Rivierabeat celebrates British Mod culture with a packed program of music, imagery, and 1960s lifestyle. The idea comes from The Modcast, the renowned podcast and collective founded by English producer Eddie Piller (the historic soul of Acid Jazz Records) together with Sarah Bolshi, with local organizational direction by Piero Casanova and the support of the Municipalities of Cattolica and Gabicce Mare.
The festival reinterprets the historic link between young English Mods and seaside resorts, transforming the Romagna Riviera into a small Brighton overlooking the Adriatic. For a long weekend, the town fills with gleaming Lambretta and Vespa scooters, tailored jackets, vinyl records, and the unmistakable groove of 1960s northern soul, jazz, ska, and funk.
The heart of the event is music: dozens of DJs, among the best of London and Italian old school clubbing, take turns in various locations, alongside live concerts and performances. A rich collateral program revolves around the music scene:
Designed to liven up the Riviera during a less touristy period like early September, Modcast Goes Rivierabeat attracts enthusiasts from all over Italy and especially from the United Kingdom, confirming Cattolica and Gabicce Mare as a reference destination for Mod culture in Southern Europe.
