Edition 2025 — Mitilugghia Festival

In the summer of 2025, the Mitilugghia Festival once again enlivened Acate, showcasing the typical Iblean dish in its many variations. Between stalls, tastings, and a village festival atmosphere, residents and visitors were able to savor traditional fried mitilugghia seasoned with oregano and salt, accompanied by black olives and sun-dried tomatoes, as well as the sweet, sugar-dusted version.

The 2025 edition of the Mitilugghia Festival took place in Acate, in the province of Ragusa, confirming the summer appointment dedicated to this historic dish of Iblean cuisine. The event featured mitilugghia prepared according to the traditional Arab-inspired recipe: bread dough fried in extra virgin olive oil and seasoned with oregano and salt, served hot with black olives and sun-dried tomatoes. There was no shortage of variations, particularly the sweet version, fried and sugared. Between food stalls, local products, and moments of conviviality, the festival attracted a good number of participants, reaffirming its role as an identity-defining celebration for the Acate community.
