The road-based car slalom race in the heart of the Palermo area
The Misilmeri City Autoslalom – Luca Cerniglia Memorial is one of the most cherished events on the Sicilian automotive calendar. Established in the 1990s and now well past its thirtieth edition, the slalom transforms the streets of Misilmeri, in the province of Palermo, into a stage for speed and driving technique for a day. The event is passionately organized by A.S.D. Misilmeri Racing, under the aegis of ACI Sport, and is dedicated to the memory of Luca Cerniglia, a young local driver who passed away prematurely and was a great promoter of motorsport in his hometown.
Slalom is an automotive discipline where drivers face a course marked by cones (the «set») one at a time against the clock, requiring precise trajectories and constant changes of direction. In Misilmeri, the race takes place on an urban and peri-urban course of approximately 3 kilometers, along the Provincial Road 38 towards Belmonte Mezzagno, in the Piano Stoppa area. The track, punctuated by numerous cone stations, tests the drivers' sensitivity and reflexes as they compete in multiple timed heats.
The Misilmeri City Autoslalom is more than just a local festival: the race is a qualifying round for important national and regional competitions, including the Southern Italy Slalom Trophy, the Sicilian Slalom Championship, and the Challenge degli Emiri. Every year, the green light attracts dozens of drivers from all over Sicily, competing for valuable points in the seasonal rankings in vehicles ranging from silhouettes to single-seaters and prototypes.
The slalom has always been much more than a race: it is an event that involves the entire Misilmeri community. Technical and sporting checks, course reconnaissance, and award ceremonies draw numerous spectators to the streets, while the town rallies around its drivers. The bond with the local area is strengthened by the Luca Cerniglia Memorial, which honors a young man who embodied the town's passion for motorsports. The event is a staple of the autumn sports season in Western Sicily and a showcase for Misilmeri and its community associations.
The event is traditionally held in autumn, between October and November. The dates for the 2026 edition are included in the ACI Sport Sicily calendar, while the detailed program (times, registration, and course details) is usually published in the weeks leading up to the race.
The 2026 edition of the Misilmeri City Autoslalom – Luca Cerniglia Memorial is featured on the official ACI Sport Sicily calendar. The race, organized by A.S.D. Misilmeri Racing, will take place as usual on an urban course of approximately 3 km and will be valid for the Southern Italy zone trophies.
At the moment, the full program (times for checks, reconnaissance, and race heats, entry list, and course details) has not yet been published: it will be released by the organization closer to the event. It is recommended to check the official ACI Sport and Misilmeri Racing channels for updates.
Misilmeri is located about 15 km from Palermo and can be reached by car via the SS121 or the motorway exit; the reference airport is Palermo-Punta Raisi. The race takes place along the SP38 towards Belmonte Mezzagno (Piano Stoppa area).
During the race day, the roads affected by the course are closed to traffic from the early hours of the morning. It is recommended to follow the instructions of the organizers and volunteers and to respect the areas reserved for the public. Admission for spectators is free.
