Fifty years of walking in Montecchio Maggiore
The Minimarcia Biancorossa is one of the most deeply rooted traditions of Montecchio Maggiore, in the province of Vicenza. Born in the seventies, in 2026 it reaches the milestone of the 50th edition: a non-competitive walk designed for children and families, which attracts thousands of participants every May 1st.
From the Polisportivo to Romeo's Castle
The start is from the Polisportivo Cosaro and the finish is at Romeo's Castle (Castello della Villa), one of the two Scaligeri castles that tradition links to the story of Romeo and Juliet. Here, the walkers will find the medieval atmosphere of the historical re-enactment Montecchio Medievale – La Faida, scheduled for the same day.
A celebration for everyone
Organized by the Club Biancorosso of Montecchio Maggiore with the patronage of the Municipality, the Minimarcia is an event open to all but designed especially for the little ones, with a route suitable for families and a symbolic registration fee. It is the moment when the entire community comes together outdoors to inaugurate spring together.
Minimarcia Biancorossa — edition 2026
The 50th Minimarcia Biancorossa is scheduled for Friday, May 1, 2026. On the same day, Montecchio Maggiore celebrates two milestones: the 50th anniversary of the Minimarcia and the 25th edition of the historical re-enactment Montecchio Medievale – La Faida, which animates the Scaligeri castles from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

- 8:30 AM — Gathering at Polisportivo Cosaro (Via degli Alberi)
- 9:00 AM — Start of the non-competitive walk for families
- until 12:00 PM — Arrival at Romeo's Castle with medieval-themed attractions
On the same day, from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, the castles host the 25th edition of Montecchio Medievale – La Faida with ladies and nobles of the court, artisans and merchants, falconers, knights, and combat demonstrations.

How to get there
Montecchio Maggiore is on the A4 motorway (Montecchio Maggiore exit) between Vicenza and Verona. Start from Polisportivo Cosaro, finish at Romeo's Castle.
