The great Milanese festival of contemporary music
The Milano Musica Festival is the major Milanese event dedicated to contemporary music. The 35th edition takes place from April 26 to June 6, 2026, in Milan (Municipality of Milan, Lombardy), under the title 'Creative Distances'. Promoted by the Milano Musica Association, the festival is one of the most important of its kind in Italy and collaborates regularly with the Teatro alla Scala.
The 2026 edition celebrates two key figures of the 20th century born in 1926 and linked to the texts of Samuel Beckett: Morton Feldman and György Kurtág. The program features 8 world premieres and 13 Italian premieres, resulting from international commissions and co-commissions involving Ircam-Centre Pompidou in Paris, Staatskapelle Dresden, and Tokyo Bunka Kaikan.
The concerts are held in some of the city's most prestigious venues: the Teatro alla Scala, the Sala Verdi of the Conservatorio, Pirelli HangarBicocca, and the Fabbrica del Vapore. This selection of locations combines temples of music with spaces of contemporary art.
With its blend of premiere performances, artistic residencies, and collaborations with major European and global musical institutions, Milano Musica reaffirms Milan's role as a crossroads for new music. It's an event for enthusiasts and the curious, capable of bringing the present of composition and performance to the city.
