Three days of poetry, music, and contemporary arts in the village of Montalto delle Marche
The Metroborgo Festival is the flagship event of the Metroborgo MontaltoLab project, born in Montalto delle Marche (province of Ascoli Piceno) thanks to PNRR funds from the Ministry of Culture's "Attractiveness of Villages" call, for which Montalto is a pilot village for the Marche Region. The idea is simple and ambitious: to transform a small historic village in the Marche region into a "metro-village," a place where contemporary performing arts dialogue with tradition and project towards the future together with the community.
After its debut in 2025, the festival returns in 2026 from July 26 to 28 with a rich program of seminars, readings, concerts, and poetry theatre. The artistic direction is entrusted to the poet and writer Davide Rondoni, one of the most prominent voices in contemporary Italian poetry, who has been involved in Montalto's cultural initiatives for years. The format intertwines poetic word with live music, performance, and in-depth discussions, bringing new creative energies rooted in the territory to the village.
Among the protagonists of the second edition are singer-songwriter Angelica Bove, expected on July 26 with a stop on her "Tana Tour 2026," actress Iaia Forte, one of the most acclaimed performers in Italian theatre and cinema, and musician Megahertz. Alongside the well-known names, the festival provides space for young poets, musicians, and performers, true to the MontaltoLab project's mission of promoting emerging talents and engaging the community.
The events take place in the historic center of Montalto delle Marche, among the squares, palaces, and courtyards of the village overlooking the Piceno hills. Strolling through the village streets between a reading and a concert is an integral part of the experience: the festival invites visitors to experience the village in a slow and participatory way, discovering its views, flavors, and traditions. Admission to all events is free, a choice that reaffirms the community-based and inclusive nature of the event.
The second edition of the Metroborgo Festival animates the historic center of Montalto delle Marche from July 26 to 28, 2026, with a program that intertwines poetry, music, performance, and in-depth discussions. The event is part of the Metroborgo MontaltoLab project and maintains free admission to all events.
During the three days, seminars, readings, concerts, and poetry theatre are scheduled, with the announced participation of actress Iaia Forte and musician Megahertz, as well as young poets and performers. The artistic direction is by poet Davide Rondoni.
The detailed hourly schedule for individual events will be published on the official website of the Metroborgo MontaltoLab project closer to the event.
