Christmas in the heart of Mestre
With the arrival of winter, Piazza Ferretto — the main urban square of Mestre, on the mainland of the municipality of Venice — dresses up for the holidays. The Christmas Markets fill the square and surrounding streets with characteristic wooden huts, creating a walk among lights, scents, and gift ideas during Advent.
Huts, rink, and illuminations
The wooden huts, about twenty or more, offer crafts, typical food and wine products, and gift items, distributed between Piazza Ferretto, via Poerio, and via Allegri. Making the atmosphere even more festive are the ice skating rink set up in the square, the lighting of the Christmas tree, and the illuminations that light up the center. It's the meeting point for families and children during the holidays.
A widespread Christmas in Venice and Mestre
The Mestre markets are part of the wider Christmas program of the Municipality of Venice, which also lights up the historic lagoon city center. Among themed events, concerts, and initiatives for children, Piazza Ferretto becomes the hub of the mainland festivities for weeks, in a welcoming and family-friendly atmosphere.
Natale a Mestre — edition 2026
The 2026 Mestre Christmas Markets will liven up Piazza Ferretto and via Poerio from November 20 to December 26, while those on via Allegri will continue until January 6, 2027. The wooden huts will offer crafts and local products, alongside the ice skating rink and the tree lighting ceremony in Piazza Ferretto.
