The village of Itieli returns to the Middle Ages with re-enactments, fire-eaters, and period music
In the small village of Itieli, a hamlet of Narni in the province of Terni, the Medieval Evenings take visitors back in time for a few days. The castle and alleys come alive with historical re-enactments, fire-eater shows, medieval music, drummers, and costumed figures, recreating the atmosphere of a village of the era.
Among the most appreciated attractions are the taverns where typical local products are tasted: among these is the schiacciata baked in the ancient wood-fired ovens rekindled for the occasion. A special feature makes the experience even more immersive: upon entering, euros are exchanged for coins specially minted, to be used for purchasing food and drinks along the way.
The Medieval Evenings are an event deeply felt by the community of Itieli, which each year stages its historical memory with care and participation. For those visiting southern Umbria, it is an opportunity to discover an authentic village far from the most beaten paths and to experience a different evening, between entertainment, tradition, and good food.
On July 24 and 25, 2026, the village of Itieli (Narni) hosts a new edition of the Medieval Evenings. Two evenings of historical re-enactment within the castle walls, featuring fire-eater shows, medieval music, drummers, and costumed figures, along with taverns serving typical products, including schiacciata baked in wood-fired ovens. At the entrance, euros are exchanged for coins minted for the occasion.
The hourly program for the two evenings will be announced by the organizers closer to the event.
Itieli is reachable by car from Narni along the local road towards the hill; the Orte-Terni dual carriageway and the Narni-Amelia station are the main reference points for those arriving from outside.
At the entrance, you can exchange euros for coins minted for the event, to be spent at taverns and stalls.
