About Medieval Days

For three days in July, the medieval village of Poggio di Otricoli (TR) travels back in time. The alleys and squares of the ancient Castrum Podii Medii come alive with artists, artisans, and costumed characters offering games, music, dances, itinerant shows, falconry, flag-wavers, and duels. A medieval market and numerous refreshment stands with traditional dishes complete one of the most evocative historical reenactments in southern Umbria, organized by the Associazione Castrum Podii Medii.

The Middle Ages come alive in Poggio di Otricoli

The Medieval Days of Poggio di Otricoli transform the small fortified village, a hamlet of Otricoli in the province of Terni, into an open-air medieval castle for three days. Once known as Castrum Podii Medii, the village naturally lends itself to the reenactment thanks to its compact structure of alleys, staircases, and small squares.

Shows and atmosphere

During the event, described as "three continuous days," the village is populated by artists, artisans, and costumed characters. Music and dances echo through the streets, while itinerant shows, falconry exhibitions, flag-wavers, archers, jugglers, fire shows, and costumed duels follow one another. A medieval market and numerous refreshment stands with traditional dishes complete the experience.

A village that tells its story

The event is curated by the Associazione Castrum Podii Medii and involves the entire community of Poggio. The symbolic entrance fee and the free shuttle service from the parking lot make the event accessible and family-friendly. The Medieval Days are now an anticipated event of the Terni summer, attracting visitors from all over Umbria and the nearby Lazio region, and represent a precious opportunity to discover an authentic village off the beaten tourist track.

Medieval Days — edition 2026
