The Mazariol Carnival is the Carnival celebration of Giavera del Montello, a town in the Marca Trevigiana region, in the province of Treviso, at the foot of the famous Montello hill. The event revolves around the parade of allegorical floats and masked groups that winds through the town center, accompanied by music and entertainment.
The Mazariol and Venetian Folklore
The name refers to the Mazariol, the mischievous sprite with the red hat from Venetian popular tradition, a figure associated with forests and the countryside. Inspired by this legend, the parade features themed floats and masked groups that reinterpret current events and fantasy each year, from beloved characters to major contemporary themes.
In the Carnevali di Marca Circuit
The Mazariol Carnival is part of the Carnevali di Marca circuit, the network of parades that enlivens the Marca Trevigiana between late January and February, attracting carnival groups from all over the territory. Organized by the Pro Loco of Giavera del Montello in collaboration with the municipal administration, it is a highly anticipated event that brings color, music, and fun to the town square for families.
Mazariol Carnival — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Mazariol Carnival in Giavera del Montello (Treviso) was held on Sunday, February 1st, with the parade starting at 2:30 PM. Accompanied by the voice of Jessica Dal Bo, the carnival groups filled the town center with color, music, and sets, with themes ranging from the Smurfs to the Milan-Cortina Olympics.
The event, organized by the Pro Loco of Giavera del Montello with the municipal administration, is part of the Carnevali di Marca circuit, which on the same weekend also featured parades in Farra di Soligo, Carbonera, Pieve di Soligo, and Mareno di Piave, registering a total of over 25,000 participants over the weekend of February 1-2.
