The popular spring festival in the Villa Gardella Park in Stazzano
The May Festival is one of the most anticipated spring events in Stazzano, a small town in the Province of Alessandria, Piedmont. Organized by Pro Loco Stazzano, the event transforms the picturesque Villa Gardella Park for an entire day into a great meeting place for residents and visitors from neighboring towns, fostering a spirit of community and celebration.
The festival takes place in the green spaces of Villa Gardella, a historic residence donated to the Municipality of Stazzano in 1964 by Dr. Giuseppe Gardella and now home to the Civic Museum of Natural History. The park, with its lawns and trees, provides the ideal setting for a day outdoors, while the villa houses a valuable naturalistic heritage dedicated to the earth and life sciences of the territory between Piedmont and Liguria.
The star of the day is the Pro Loco's cuisine. The indoor food stand offers lunch at midday and dinner in the evening, featuring local traditional dishes prepared by volunteers. It is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the typical recipes of the Alessandria Apennines in a genuine, family-friendly atmosphere, sitting together with the locals.
The May Festival is designed especially for families. Inflatables and games are set up for the little ones, while everyone can participate in guided tours of the Civic Museum of Natural History, a precious opportunity to discover the mineralogical, paleontological, and zoological collections preserved at Villa Gardella and managed by the Stazzano Naturalists Group.
As evening falls, the festival continues with a musical evening with a DJ, accompanying dinner and providing moments of joy and dancing until late. Music, good food, and company perfectly round off a day entirely dedicated to tradition and community.
The May Festival represents one of those moments that keep the identity of a small Piedmontese town like Stazzano alive. Thanks to the commitment of the Pro Loco volunteers, every year spring is celebrated with a simple and authentic festival, capable of attracting visitors from across the Alessandria area and renewing the bond between the inhabitants and their town.
The 2026 May Festival took place on Sunday, May 17, in the Villa Gardella Park in Stazzano, confirming the Pro Loco's tried-and-tested formula. The indoor food stand welcomed visitors for lunch at midday and dinner in the evening, while the little ones enjoyed inflatables and games.
Throughout the day, guided tours of the Civic Museum of Natural History housed in the villa were offered, and in the evening, the party continued with music and a DJ. A new edition marked by conviviality and village tradition.
Stazzano is located in the Province of Alessandria, in the Apennines on the border with Liguria. By car, it can be reached from the A7 Milan-Genoa motorway (Vignole Borbera exit) or from the A26. The nearest train station is Arquata Scrivia, connected to the Genoa-Turin line. The festival takes place in the Villa Gardella Park, at Via Aldo Fossati 2.
The event lasts for an entire day, roughly from 11:00 AM until late in the evening. Admission is free; costs only apply to food and drinks purchased at the food stand.
