Masks and floats in the hinterland village of Genoa
The Masone Carnival is the traditional Carnival celebration of Masone, a municipality in the Stura Valley in the hinterland of the metropolitan city of Genoa. A deeply felt event by the community, which every year enlivens the square in front of the parish church with masks, colors, and joy.
The highlight is the evening parade of masks and floats that winds through the center of the village. After the procession, the celebration continues with awards and musical entertainment, in a fun atmosphere that involves both adults and children.
The Carnival of Masone is not just for adults: the following day is dedicated to the little ones, with the children's carnival and the traditional 'pentolaccia' (piñata). An authentic village festival, which renews the bond of the Masone community with its traditions every year.
The 2026 edition of the Masone Carnival kicks off on Saturday, February 14th at 8:30 PM, with masks and floats gathering in the square in front of the parish church of Masone. After the parade, the party continues at Playa with awards and a DJ set.
The following day, Sunday, February 15th at 2:30 PM, is dedicated to the children's carnival, also starting from the church square, concluding at the Opera Mons. Macciò with the traditional piñata.
Masone Parish Church Square (GE), in February. The evening parade for adults starts in the evening; the children's carnival is held the following day in the early afternoon.
