A month of festivals and traditions in Assago, on the outskirts of Milan
Maggio Assaghese is the event that transforms Assago, a municipality in the southwestern hinterland of Milan, into a succession of festivals and events throughout the month of May. Promoted by the Municipality with the involvement of local associations, the parish, businesses, and citizens, it is a well-established civic tradition designed to engage all generations.
The festival is structured into various events spread across the weekends of the month, each with its own character and location:
The events animate the symbolic places of Assago's centre: Via Matteotti, the arcades of the civic centre, Piazzetta Geranio, and Via Roma. A network of spaces that allows you to experience the city in all its areas during the month of May.
More than just a series of events, Maggio Assaghese is a moment of aggregation that strengthens the sense of belonging of the Assago community. With music as a central element and the contribution of the local associative fabric, the event confirms its role as the main spring appointment for the Milanese municipality.
The 2026 edition of Maggio Assaghese unfolds throughout May, with events spread across multiple weekends.
The opening is set for Friday, May 8th, in Via Matteotti, with a piazza dinner followed by a Milanese dialect theatre comedy, produced with the support of the Parish and local businesses. The festival continues on subsequent weekends, animating the arcades of the civic centre, Piazzetta Geranio, and Via Roma with music, comedy, theatre, and entertainment for all generations. The detailed schedule will be published by the Municipality of Assago.
The complete schedule for the 2026 edition, with dates and times for all events, will be published by the Municipality of Assago. The typical structure of the festival includes:
The piazza dinner with the Milanese dialect comedy on May 8th and the weekends of music and shows are the most anticipated moments of the festival.
Assago can be reached from Milan by car via the western ring road (tangenziale ovest), and it is served by line M2 of the Milanese metro (stops Assago Milanofiori Nord and Forum).
Most events have free admission; some dinners may require booking.
