Great Music in the Heart of Matera

The Luis Bacalov Association, named after the celebrated Oscar-winning composer, is presenting one of Basilicata's richest concert seasons in Matera. The events are held at the Gervasio Auditorium, in Piazza Sedile, in the heart of the city. The 2025/2026 program features sixteen concerts ranging from symphonic music to jazz, singer-songwriters, and crossover, all united by a commitment to artistic quality.

A Season of Great Guests

The lineup includes nationally and internationally renowned artists: among those announced are Dardust, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Raphael Gualazzi, Raiz, Richard Galliano, Stefano Fresi, Paolo Jannacci, the Di4as, and Mario Incudine. The common thread throughout the season is the collaboration with the ICO Orchestra of Magna Grecia, a leading ensemble in Southern Italy.

The Grand Symphonic Finale

Among the 2026 events, 'Tchaikovsky in Symphony' stands out, scheduled for April 18, 2026: an evening entirely dedicated to great symphonic repertoire, featuring Shostakovich's Piano Concerto No. 2 and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6 'Pathétique', performed by pianist Liubov Gromoglasova and the Orchestra of Magna Grecia conducted by Vlad Vizireanu.

Supported by the Municipality of Matera and the Ministry of Culture, the Luis Bacalov Association's season represents a high-level cultural hub, bringing top-tier performers to Basilicata and introducing audiences to classical music, in a year made even more special by Matera's title as Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue.
