Rowing Palio and fireworks on Lake Maggiore
Luino in Festa is the patronal festival dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul, patrons of Luino, a city overlooking Lake Maggiore in the province of Varese. The occasion, deeply rooted in the city's tradition, combines religious, popular, and spectacular elements, animating the lakefront on one of the most anticipated days of the Luino summer.
Among the most characteristic events is the Rowing Palio, a boat competition where city teams challenge each other in heats and an evening final. The races begin in the late afternoon and culminate with the night-time final, under the eyes of the crowd gathered on the lakefront.
The day also includes High Mass and a procession dedicated to the patron saints, moments of music and DJ sets, and concludes with a grand fireworks display lasting about twenty minutes on the lake. A spectacular finale that draws residents and tourists, sealing Luino's community celebration between tradition, sport, and entertainment.
The 2026 edition of Luino in Festa is held on Saturday, June 27, for the patronal festival of Saints Peter and Paul. The day culminates on the lakefront with the Rowing Palio, religious celebrations, DJ sets, and the grand fireworks display on Lake Maggiore.
