The Carnival of Lodi Vecchio

There is a festival that, in February, brings the whole town together: it is the Ludevegino Carnival of Lodi Vecchio, a municipality in the province of Lodi. The name, "Ludevegino", recalls the ancient Latin name of the town (Laus Vetus) and gives this event a strong and deep-rooted local identity. In 2026, the carnival celebrates its 43rd edition, scheduled for Sunday, February 8 (with a rain date on February 15).

The Parade of Floats

The heart of the day is the parade of allegorical floats, which starts at 2:30 PM from Via Cavo and crosses the streets of the center. Among masked figures, music, and confetti, the floats built by local groups liven up the afternoon, transforming the streets into a colorful and festive procession, according to the best Lombard carnival tradition.

A Community Celebration

Like many small-town carnivals, the Lodi Vecchio carnival is above all a celebration built by the community: groups, associations, and volunteers work in the preceding months to prepare the floats and costumes. The result is a heartfelt and participatory event that attracts families and children to the town and represents one of the most anticipated moments of the Ludevegino winter.
