A Fortress Aglow
During the holidays, the Piazza d'Armi of Forte di Bard becomes the stage for Luci di Natale al Forte di Bard (Christmas Lights at Fort Bard), an immersive 360° show of sound, lights, and video mapping projected onto the imposing facades of the fortress. The ancient 19th-century walls come alive with images and colours, in an emotional journey that completely envelops the viewer.
A Story for Every Edition
Each year the show reinterprets a great classic: the 2025 edition was dedicated to «The Nutcracker» by Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann, accompanied by the famous orchestral music of Tchaikovsky. The result is a fairytale journey that combines storytelling, music, and technology in an experience suitable for all ages.
Santa's Village
The light show is complemented by Santa's Village, with hot drinks, Christmas treats, entertainment, and workshops for children. An opportunity to experience the festive atmosphere in one of the most evocative locations in the Municipality of Bard, in the Aosta Valley, at the foot of the medieval village.
Luci di Natale al Forte — edition 2026
The Luci di Natale al Forte di Bard show is a well-established event during the Aosta Valley Christmas period. For the 2026 edition, based on previous years, the Piazza d'Armi will once again come alive with the immersive 360° video mapping between December and Epiphany, accompanied by Santa's Village, hot drinks, entertainment, and activities for the little ones. The theme and precise dates for the 2026 edition will be communicated by the organization in autumn.
Programme Luci di Natale al Forte 2026
The theme and detailed dates for the 2026 edition will be announced by the Forte di Bard Association closer to the holidays. Based on recent editions, the format includes:
- 360° video mapping show in the Piazza d'Armi, with evening projections starting around 5:30 PM until the Forte closes
- Santa's Village with hot drinks and Christmas treats
- Workshops and activities for children
- Possible suspension of projections on certain festive dates (in previous years: December 15, 22, and 25)

How to get there
By car: A5 motorway, exit Pont-Saint-Martin or Verrès, then state road SS26 to Bard. The Forte has parking and panoramic lifts.
Opening hours and tickets
