The Busseto previews of the festival of books, sounds, and destinations
The LSD Festival – Books Sounds Destinations chooses Busseto, a small village in the province of Parma famous for being the birthplace of Giuseppe Verdi, for its traveling previews. Before the main event kicks off in Fidenza, the festival brings a compact yet intense program to the Busseto municipality, capable of anticipating the spirit of the review: the encounter between books, sounds, and destinations, i.e., between the written word, live music, and new contemporary visions.
LSD is a cultural festival born in Fidenza that, edition after edition, has consolidated a precise identity: book presentations, conversations with authors, concerts, DJ sets, exhibitions, and workshops gathered around a guiding theme. The Busseto section serves as an entryway to the review: a few carefully selected events to dialogue with the prestigious Giuseppe Verdi Theatre and the open spaces of the historic center, such as Via Roma.
Hosting a literary and musical festival in Busseto is no coincidence: the village, in the lower Parma area of Emilia-Romagna, thrives on music and culture thanks to the Verdi legacy. The Verdi Theatre, built in the mid-nineteenth century within the Rocca Pallavicino, is one of the symbolic places of the territory. The LSD previews fit into this context, offering visitors to the Verdi lands another reason to stop in the spring.
The Busseto previews precede the main festival in Fidenza, the lead municipality of the event, by a few weeks. Those who participate in the Busseto dates can then follow the entire Fidenza program, which brings together the biggest names in Italian culture around the year's theme.
The fifth edition of LSD Festival brought two preview events to Busseto, anticipating this year's theme, "Let's Break the Lines. Deep Roots to Change." The Busseto previews preceded the main festival, scheduled in Fidenza from May 22 to 24, 2026, at Corte and Palazzo Ex Orsoline – Spazio OF.
The previews are held in Busseto (PR), Emilia-Romagna: evening shows at the Giuseppe Verdi Theatre (Piazza Giuseppe Verdi 10), outdoor events on Via Roma, in the historic center.
By car: Busseto is accessible from the A1 motorway (Fidenza exit) and the Via Emilia. By train: Busseto station is on the Cremona–Fidenza line; Fidenza is the main railway hub in the area, connected to high-speed trains.
Outdoor events are generally free admission; tickets are required for shows at the Verdi Theatre (starting from 5 euros plus booking fee). Reservations recommended.
