About Eraora

Eraora is the new widespread Liberation festival of Genoa: five days in which April 25th is not celebrated as a ritual, but lived and practiced through music, theater, readings, podcasts, writing, popular food, and walks. From April 21st to 25th, the historic center transforms into a single path through squares, cloisters, and urban spaces, from Piazza Don Gallo to Piazza Sarzano, making memory a shared cultural experience. The festival culminates on April 25th with a concert by Paolo Fresu and Daniele Di Bonaventura at the Giardini Luzzati. A first edition that reinvents how the Resistance is told.

A new way to celebrate April 25th

Eraora is the widespread Liberation festival of Genoa, in its first edition in 2026. The idea behind it is simple and powerful: to transform the April 25th anniversary from a ritual ceremony into a great participatory cultural celebration, a "May Day of Liberation" where memory is practiced through popular food, music, walking, readings, writing, and theater.

The historic center as a stage

For five days, from April 21st to 25th, the festival traverses the historic center of Genoa with a single path connecting squares, cloisters, and urban spaces. Seven stops, from Piazza Don Gallo to Piazza Sarzano, host music, public writing, readings, podcasts, workshops, theater, and collective practices, in continuous dialogue between historical memory and city life.

Highlights

Among the events, on April 24th in Piazza San Giorgio, there's Live Podcast – Memory and Narration, with the recording of an episode dedicated to the Liberation of Genoa. On April 25th, the show "True Stories of Freedom" by Teatranti Nautici and, in the evening, the grand concert by Paolo Fresu and Daniele Di Bonaventura at the Giardini Luzzati. In Piazza Don Gallo, a space dedicated to children and families with the show "The Partisan's Backpack".

Living memory for the city

Promoted by the Municipality of Genoa on the 81st anniversary of the Liberation, Eraora aims to make anti-fascist memory a living and shared experience, capable of speaking to all generations. A festival that restores to April 25th its dimension as a popular and cultural celebration, in the heart of a city awarded a gold medal for the Resistance.
